University Hiring for Top Level Research Position
Stony Brook is looking for someone to fill the shoes of Dr. John "Jack" Marburger III, who died in July.

A search committee has been formed to hire a new vice president for research, filling a role that has been vacant , who stepped down July 1 from the position for health reasons and passed away later that month.
A university spokesman told Long Island Business News that Stony Brook president Samuel Stanley has been serving as both university president and as vice president for research since July 1. Marburger had served in the capacity of vice president for research from January of 2010 until that point.
The university kicked off its search on Oct. 9.
