The New York State Public High School Athletic Association, Inc. honored Ward Melville High School by naming it a School of Distinction for the 2021-22 school year.

Ward Melville High School was designated a School of Distinction for having 100% of its varsity teams qualify and receive the Scholar-Athlete team award during their respective sports season. This year, only 86 schools in the state earned this honor.
This prestigious award unites varsity coaches in challenging their teams to achieve a statewide honor. School of Distinction winners will be presented a certificate and commemorative award this fall.
