Year in Review: 10 Police Investigations that Made Headlines
Catch up on some of the more memorable incidents that happened this past year.

The Suffolk County Police Department seems to have had quite a busy year – especially given the Gilgo Beach investigations – and Three Village had its share of incidents. Here are a few that made headlines in 2011.
1. In June, a 49-year-old woman was in Stony Brook, with the assailant robbing her of her purse and jewelry.
2. The same Chase bank that was robbed by a man dressed as Darth Vadar in 2010 was of this year, causing lockdowns at two nearby public schools.

3. in Setauket in September after being stopped by police on Route 347.
4. Police investigated ain March in which two safes and cash were stolen from three businesses in a strip of stores in Stony Brook in one hit.

5. in a crash in April in which a woman attempted to flee the police after allegedly running a red light and crashing into another car.
6. In August, to the shed at Sycamore Circle Park resulted in police questioning four youths, but no arrests were made.
7. A Stony Brook woman was charged with grand larceny in October with by cashing thousands of dollars with an illegitimate check and then refusing to return the money she withdrew.
8. at St. George's Golf Club in October, with police investigating them as separate instances of grand larceny.
9. A student at Ward Melville High School was in a boys' bathroom in December, prompting an investigation by the school administration.
10. In December, police investigated an instance of after a patient at Stony Brook University Medical Center reported a stolen debit card that was used to make various purchases.
