1 Dead, 3 Injured In Fire On Roosevelt Island, FDNY Says

ROOSEVELT ISLAND, NY — One person was killed and three firefighters were injured on a fire in a Roosevelt Island apartment on Saturday night, New York City Fire Department officials said.

According to the FDNY, the fire broke out at 560 Main St. between West and River roads around 6 p.m., and took around an hour to put out.

One person was pronounced dead at the scene, and three firefighters were hospitalized following the fire, the FDNY said.

"Our district is again mourning the loss of one of our neighbors from a fire, this time at 560 Main Street on Roosevelt Island," Councilmember Julie Menin tweeted, referencing a fatal fire on the Upper East Side on Nov. 12.

"Their family is in my thoughts tonight, as are those who were hospitalized."
