Don Angie

Location: 103 Greenwich Ave, New York, NY 10014

What OpenTable says: "The rolled lasagna at Don Angie launched a thousand Instagram posts when the West Village Italian-American restaurant from wife-and-husband team Angie Rito and Scott Tacinelli opened in 2018. It was also named one of Esquire’s Best New Restaurants that same year, and the owners received James Beard Award nominations in 2019, 2020, and 2022. Ever since day one, the cozy, bustling dining room with classic black-and-white checkered floors and a curved bar has been one of the city’s most coveted reservations, with diners clamoring for said lasagna and other viral fare like hand-made, candy-striped buffalo milk caramelle and gussied-up chicken scarpariello."

Gallaghers Steakhouse

228 West 52nd Street, New York, NY 10019

What OpenTable says: "Founded by former Ziegfield girl Helen Gallagher and the colorful gambler and sports enthusiast Jack Solomon, Gallaghers opened as a speakeasy and steakhouse in 1927. At that time, the height of Prohibition, a good stiff drink and a great steak were hard to find in New York – except, of course, at Gallaghers.New Yorkers come for the world-class cocktails and incredible steak – prime beef dry-aged for 21 days in Gallaghers’ legendary windowed meat locker. The combination of all-natural dry aging and cooking it to perfection over hickory coals makes for a steak unlike any other found in New York."

Kabawa

8 Extra Pl, New York, NY 10003

What OpenTable says: "Momofuku's first new NYC restaurant in years is reason enough to get excited. Another is internationally celebrated chef Paul Carmichael, who runs the show here by showcasing his Barbadian heritage through a three-course menu with dishes like jerk duck sausage and braised goat with spicy scallop creole. Custom mosaics, the open kitchen with counter seating, and a welcome roti platter set the tone for a relaxed, Caribbean home-like experience."

Le Veau d'Or

129 E 60th St, New York, NY 10022

What OpenTable says: "The James Beard–recognized restaurateurs from Frenchette, Riad Nasr and Lee Hanson, took over one of the oldest French restaurants in New York when they restored and reopened Le Veau d’Or in 2024. Take comfort in the wood-paneled walls, red leather booths, and red-and-white checkered tablecloths, and get ready for a polished prix-fixe menu of pâté en croûte, poached lobster, and île flottante, among others. Catch a nightcap at the cozy bar—it’s a tiny treasure with only five seats."

Palma

28 Cornelia Street, New York, NY 10014

What OpenTable says: "Palma is nested on quaint Cornelia Street in the heart of Greenwich Village, with a hidden garden filled with fresh flowers in all seasons and a 200-year-old Carriage House for private dining in an elegant yet warm setting. White Stucco walls, beamed ceilings, a salvaged chestnut door & a beautiful garden with ivy-covered walls create an atmosphere where people relax and enjoy life with food and wine. Palma is an organic Italian restaurant, offering a taste of Italian clean food since April 2001."

Sushi Noz

181 E 78th St, New York, NY 10075

What OpenTable says: "Acclaimed chef Nozomu Abe leads this serene, two-MICHELIN-starred destination that's arguably one of the best sushi restaurants in town. Sit at one of two intimate wooden counters for an Edomae-style seasonal tasting menu that can stretch to 20 courses and include dishes like grilled sea perch with blue seaweed sauce. Delicate, cedar-lined walls and food presented on centuries-old Japanese ceramics make any meal here a singular, transportative experience."

Visitors rave about its "great vibe", "charming art deco atmosphere", and consistent quality. It's a perfect spot for any occasion, from brunch to special celebrations, offering a "wonderful dining experience" every time."

The River Cafe

1 Water St., Brooklyn, NY 11201

What OpenTable says: "Nestled beneath the Brooklyn Bridge with breathtaking views of the Manhattan skyline and the Statue of Liberty, The River Café has been a beloved New York City destination since 1977. Founded by Michael “Buzzy” O’Keeffe, the restaurant is a true New York original. Renowned for its romantic setting, refined cuisine, and impeccable service."

Una Pizza Napoletana

175 Orchard St, New York, NY 10002

What OpenTable says: "This Lower East Side award-winner from pioneering pizzaiolo Anthony Mangieri was named the number-one pizzeria in the world by 50 Top Pizza in 2022 and 2024. Unsurprisingly, the pies—simple and classic on naturally leavened dough—are the stars at the bustling, elbow-to-elbow space. But don't miss the house-made gelato and fresh-fruit sorbetti, nor the standout wines from Campania."
