1 Man Is In Critical Condition After An Upper East Side Car Crash, Police Say

Both cars were heading uptown on FDR Drive when the collision happened, police said.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — Two men were hospitalized and one is in critical condition after a car crash on Tuesday morning on the Upper East Side, New York City Police Department officials said.

According to the NYPD, at 6 a.m. Tuesday, a 21-year-old man driving a Toyota SUV rear-ended a 49-year-old man driving a Nissan SUV near the intersection of FDR Drive and 61st Street.

Both cars were heading uptown on FDR Drive when the collision happened, police said.

Both drivers were rushed to the NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center, the 21-year-old in stable condition and the 49-year-old in critical condition, authorities said.

The investigation is underway, and no arrests have been made yet, police said. Both drivers remained on the scene, police said.
