2 Women Killed In Fiery FDR Drive Crash On UES: Police
Two women were killed in a fiery crash on the FDR Drive early Friday, police said. Their driver is reportedly facing DWI charges.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — Two women were killed and a driver seriously injured when their car crashed on the FDR Drive early Friday morning, police said.
It happened around 4:37 a.m., when police responded to a 911 call about a crash on the highway's northbound side, near East 72nd Street.
Officers found the white Infiniti sedan engulfed in flames on the shoulder of the roadway, police said. Firefighters extinguished the blaze and found two unidentified women inside the car.

Both women were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, a 33-year-old man, was rushed to Weill Cornell Hospital in serious but stable condition, police said.
At the hospital, the man was arrested on unspecified charges — though multiple outlets reported that he was suspected of drunk driving.

All northbound lanes of the FDR Drive were briefly closed Friday morning as authorities responded to the crash.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing, an NYPD spokesperson said.
