
UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — A fire broke out on Monday afternoon in a 40-story high-rise on the Upper East Side, injuring five civilians, three of which were hospitalized, the New York City Fire Department told Patch.
According to the FDNY, the fire, which was located on the 16th floor of the 40-story apartment building located at 205 East 92 Street, started at 12:50 p.m. on Monday.
The FDNY said that 78 firefighters and medics responded to the blaze and got the fire under control by 1:35 p.m.

Five people were injured during the fire, and three of them were taken to local area hospitals, authorities said. The rest were evaluated by medics on the scene, the FDNY said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by FDNY Fire Marshals.
