Another Upper East Side Restaurant Set To Close
The Gray Hawk Grill is the latest neighborhood spot to shutter so far this year.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — Another Upper East Side third place is soon to be empty space.
Gray Hawk Grill, which opened only in November 2020, is now closing its doors for good, according to a message shared by the eatery.
"It’s with heavy hearts we have to announce that we are closing," the message reads. "This hasn’t been an easy decision, but next Saturday, the 24th, will be our last day. We hope you can come and spend the last week with us for the very last time."

"It's been our pleasure serving you and getting to know each of you who have made Gray Hawk such a special place," reads the post.
Owner Steve Millan got the keys to the future home of his restaurant on Second Avenue between East 81st and 80th streets four days before the city went into its first COVID-19 lockdown in March, 2020, he told CNN Business.

Once he finally opened months later in November, he recounted to CNN, scaffolding immediately was erected around his block and, a few weeks later, the city once again banned indoor dining.
Despite the rough timing, Millan persisted, because after years of running and opening restaurants for others, he had dreamed of having his own place.
“I’ve wanted to own a restaurant since I was 15,” Millan said to CNN.
The Gray Hawk Grill says that their traditional Friday and Saturday live music will continue until their last day on Feb. 24.
"Now let's go out with a BANG," the post concludes.
