Salon 94 is planning to "consolidate" its operation at the new Upper East Side building, according to reports.
UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — An art gallery with locations on the Lower East Side and Upper East Side is planning a new headquarters in the neighborhood after buying a $22.3 million townhouse of East 89th Street, according to reports and real estate records.
Salon 94 will "consolidate" its operations at the new location, its founder Jeanne Greenberg Rohatyn told the arts publication ARTNews. Salon 94 has three current locations on East 94th Street, Freemans Alley and the Bowery.
The gallery purchased 3 E. 89th St., located between Fifth and Madison avenues, for $22.3 million at the beginning of June, according to public real estate records. The entity listed on the deed, 3 East 89 Holding LLC, shares an address with the gallery's 94th street location.

Salon 94 bought the townhouse from the National Academy of Design, which listed its three Upper East Side buildings in 2016 as a package deal for $120 million. After a year without a sale, the academy split the properties and offered them for individual sale. The academy listed the property at 3 E. 89th St. for $29.5 million, about seven million less than what it sold for.
The townhouse will serve as Salon 94's gallery headquarters and will feature exhibit space, viewing rooms and offices for gallery staff, ARTNews reported.
