ATM Thieves Steal More Than $6,000 From 71-Year-Old Man On Upper East Side, Police Say

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — Police were looking Friday for two suspects who took a debit card from a 71-year-old man on the Upper East Side and withdrew more than $6000, New York City Police Department officials said.

According to the NYPD, the robbery happened back on June 2 at 11 a.m. at the Chase Bank on East 90th St. and Third Avenue. While the victim was making a withdrawal, one of the suspects started a conversation with him to distract him and removed his card from the ATM.

An hour later, the 71-year-old discovered that his debit card was missing and a total of $6,210.50 in withdrawals and purchases had been made to his account, police said.

The two suspects were seen using the victim's debit card at the Chase Bank at East 106th Street and Third Avenue, where they withdrew $5,500 from the victim's account, police said.

Police are investigating the incident and have released surveillance photos of the two suspects.

The first suspect was last seen wearing a gray t-shirt, black jeans, and black sneakers, and the second suspect was last seen wearing a blue baseball cap, gray t-shirt, dark blue jeans, and black sneakers.

No arrests have been made yet, police said.
