UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — New York City Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney said Tuesday that she had tested positive for COVID-19, the latest prominent official to come down with the virus.

Other Washington officials who announced their own COVID-19 cases in recent weeks included House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Attorney General Merrick Garland and Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo — the latter two of whom attended the April 2 Gridiron Dinner that has been linked to dozens of infections.
Maloney, 76, is a 15-term Democrat whose district includes the Upper East Side, much of Midtown, Astoria and Long Island City in Queens, and Greenpoint in Brooklyn. (She also chairs the House Oversight Committee.)

She faces a competitive primary this June, in a redrawn district which — if current maps hold — will add parts of Midtown and the Upper West Side while shedding territory in Brooklyn and Queens.
