UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — When times are tough, heroes emerge. We all know someone who's making a difference right now as we live through unprecedented and changing times.
Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize these heroes making a difference in their communities. Together with Ring, we're working to let all your neighbors know about these outstanding people and their stories.

Hero's job: Volunteer
Relationship to nominee: He is the VP of the East 86th Street Merchants/Residents Association, I am president.
Reason for recognition: He has spearheaded action to beautify the East 86th St. corridor with horticultural activities and worked to recruit volunteers to clean streets and tree pits. This area has been deteriorating as the merchants have not [invested] in the community.
One thing to know: He cares, committed to community and takes on issues that need to get done.
