Elderly Man Randomly Punched On Upper East Side Street, Police Say

Police are looking for a suspect who randomly punched a 72-year-old man on a Yorkville sidewalk last month, according to authorities.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — An elderly man was randomly punched while he walked down a Yorkville sidewalk last month, according to police, who are searching for the assailant.

The 72-year-old victim was walking near the corner of Third Avenue and East 81st Street just before 6:30 a.m. on Nov. 28, when an unidentified man punched him in the chest, unprovoked, police said.

The victim declined medical attention, while the suspect fled in an unknown direction, police said.

Police on Thursday released a photo of the suspect and asked anyone with information to call the NYPD Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). People can also submit tips online or on Twitter, @NYPDTips.
