UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — The Upper East Side is about to get a little sweeter.

Mia's Brooklyn Bakery, a popular bakery with current locations in Brooklyn and Times Square, is expanding to the Upper East Side with a new outpost on Third Avenue. Signage for the bakery has been spotted in the neighborhood, signaling its latest expansion project.

Two families who shared a love for making desserts founded the original location of Mia’s Bakery in Boerum Hill in 2015.

According to the bakery's website, the idea originated one night over a fantastic baklava. During their conversation, the families lamented how challenging it had become to find exceptional classic desserts. They aimed to revive traditions of perfectly crafted, non-extravagant creations rather than over-the-top indulgences.

The conversation "made the families take note of how much pleasure a good dessert was capable of delivering, and a delicious venture was born."
