The Upper East Side is chock-full of pizzerias, but Farinella stood out for its unique preparation. Instead of baking New York-style pizza pies, the Lexington Avenue store turned out Roman-style palams, a type of oval pie with a thin crust.
In a 2014 interview with amNew York, Cretara said he relocated his business to the Upper East Side from TriBeCa to be based in a more family-friendly area.
