Fire Breaks Out At East 79th Street Building, FDNY Says

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — Firetrucks and ambulances swarmed East 79th Street on Thursday morning after a blaze broke out in an Upper East Side building.

The fire broke out in the duct system of 242 E. 79th St., located between Second and Third avenues, around 8:45 a.m., an FDNY spokesman said. Firefighters had the blaze under control around 10 a.m., the spokesman said.

The four-story East 79th Street building is home to a ground-floor restaurant and apartments.

Nobody was hurt during the fire, an FDNY spokesman said. The cause of the fire will be investigated by the city fire marshal.
