UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — A fire shut down a posh Madison Avenue caviar "speakeasy" Tuesday evening, according to officials and the restaurant website.

Flames erupted at HÜSO on Madison Avenue near East 81st street about 7:30 p.m., according to the FDNY. The blaze was under control in about 40 minutes.

Markey's Caviar, the caviar shop that runs the backroom eatery, shuttered its Upper East Side site to deal with damage from the blaze, its website shows.

HÜSO, a small 12-seat dining room behind Markey's retail shop, has earned high-acclaim for its all-caviar seven-course $200 tasting menu, serving Alaskan king crab merus with Beluga di Venezia in a setting Grubstreet called "very posh" and "very aquatic."

Fire officials told Patch that one was injured in Tuesday's caviar fire.
