Hammer-Wielding Homophobe Threatens Men On Upper East Side, Police Say
Police are looking for a person accused of threatening two men with a hammer while spewing slurs near Central Park earlier this week.
UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — A person hurled homophobic slurs at two men and threatened them with a hammer on the Upper East Side this week, according to police.
The two men, ages 52 and 57, were near Fifth Avenue and East 63rd Street around 2:30 a.m. Saturday when the unidentified person approached, hammer in hand.
The suspect yelled "F--k you f---ots," then fled into Central Park, an NYPD spokesperson said. Nobody was arrested.

The NYPD's Hate Crimes Task Force is investigating the incident, police said.
Police on Friday released surveillance images showing the suspect, and asked anyone with information to call the NYPD Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). People can also submit tips online or on Twitter, @NYPDTips.
