Hit-And-Run Driver Kills Man On The Upper East Side, Police Say
The victim was dragged by the car for more than 10 blocks, police said.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — A pedestrian was killed by a hit-and-run driver on the Upper East Side on Saturday, New York City Police Department officials said.
According to the NYPD, a 36-year-old man named James Mossetty was hit by a Toyota RAV4 SUV while crossing York Avenue mid-block near East 72nd Street at 5:03 a.m. Saturday, three blocks from where he lives.
The man driving the car dragged Mossetty, who was lodged under the vehicle, more than 10 blocks all the way to the lower level of the Ed Koch Queensboro Bridge, where he was dislodged, police said.

Then, the victim was rushed to New York-Presbyterian Weill Cornell Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, police said. The victim sustained severe head and body trauma, officials said.
The driver did not remain on the scene, but was later identified and arrested, police said.

Police arrested a 71-year-old Queens man named Abdul Hakim at 8 p.m. Saturday and charged him with leaving the scene of an accident that resulted in death.
The incident is under investigation, police said.
