Everything You Need To Know About The Upper East Side's Israel Parade Sunday
Where to watch, how to get around, and more.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — Rain or shine, the annual Israel Day on Fifth is back on the Upper East Side this Sunday, kicking off at 11:30 a.m. along Fifth Avenue, and running until 4 p.m.
This year's parade starts at East 62nd Street and ends at East 74th Street, event organizers say, and the theme this year is Hatikvah: The Hope.
The parade will have thousands of participants and onlookers, live music and floats, organizers say.

The event is organized by the Jewish Community Relations Council of New York, which has been running the event since 2011, according to its website, but the parade itself is more than 60 years old.
To watch the parade, organizers say spectators will have to pass through metal detectors first, and people with backpacks, large bags, umbrellas, lawn chairs, coolers, and drones will not be permitted.

"There’ll be more security at this parade than any other parade," NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch said on Fox 5’s Good Day New York Friday morning.
Spectators can watch the parade by entering 61st, 63rd, 66th, 70th and 73rd Streets from Madison Avenue, organizers said.
"We look forward to tens of thousands of Jews and our neighbors from the tri-state area and beyond marching up Fifth Avenue in the greatest city in the world to demonstrate support for the people of Israel, the immediate release of the remaining hostages, and showing unity and pride in being Jewish and Zionist, particularly in the moment we are in today," Mark Treyger, CEO of the Jewish Community Relations Council of New York, told Patch.
