Man Found Dead On Second Avenue Subway

A 50-year-old man was found dead on a northbound Q train early Tuesday morning, police said.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — A 50-year-old man was found dead early Tuesday morning on the Second Avenue Subway, police said, less than a month after the MTA's newest line opened to the public.

Police rushed to the 96th St. Q station around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday and found the man unconscious aboard a north-bound train, police said. He was unresponsive and had no visible signs of trauma, police said.

He was taken to Metropolitan Hospital and pronounced dead. An investigation is ongoing.

The Second Avenue Subway, a three-stop extension of the Q line at 72nd St., 86th St. and 96th., opened to the public on Jan. 1.

Subway service on the Q was unaffected shortly before 8 a.m. Tuesday morning.
