Man Mugged While Entering UES Apartment Building, Police Say

A 57-year-old man was followed into an apartment building by three men and attacked on the staircase.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — A man was attacked and robbed inside an Upper East Side apartment building, an NYPD spokesperson said.

The 57-year-old man entered a building near Second Avenue and East 87th Street around 7:30 p.m. Monday night when he was followed inside by a group of three men, police said. The men ambushed the victim on the building's staircase, punching him several times during the attack, police said.

After the hail of punches, the robbers stole the man's wallet and fled the building, police said. The man suffered minor injuries and refused medical attention at the scene of the mugging, an NYPD spokesperson said.

Police released photos (seen above) of three robbery suspects on Thursday. Arrests have yet to been made in connection to the mugging.
