Man Robbed At Gunpoint Near UES Church, Police Say
A man was robbed of his motorcycle early Monday afternoon, officials said, bearing striking similarities to a crime in May.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — A man on his motorcycle on an Upper East Side street found himself at the end of a gun barrel early Monday afternoon, police said.
Around 3 p.m., the 48-year-old man was parked outside 1010 Park Avenue, situated between East 85th and East 86th streets, just steps away from Park Avenue Christian Church, when a group of strangers approached him, according to officials.
One of the attackers pulled out a gun, police said, and forced him from his red Yamaha motorcycle.

The group then fled in an unknown direction, police said.
No injuries were reported and the robbers were still at large at the time of publication.

An NYPD spokesperson was unable to confirm the number of perpetrators involved in the crime. Police added that detectives have not yet obtained surveillance footage of the incident and do not have a description of any suspects at this time.
No official connection has been confirmed, but police noted that this robbery shares striking similarities with a city-wide crime pattern highlighted last month.
Specifically, on May 13 on the Upper East Side, two men on a black motorcycle attempted to steal an orange motorcycle parked in front of 46 East 91st Street. When a 48-year-old employee shouted at them to stop, one of the robbers brandished a gun and threatened him before fleeing with the motorcycle, valued at around $16,000, according to police.
