Man Shot In Car On Upper East Side: Police
A man says he was ambushed and shot while sitting in his car on the Upper East Side—but police are investigating whether he shot himself.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — A man says a robber ambushed and shot him Tuesday as he sat in a car on the Upper East Side — but police are investigating whether he actually shot himself, according to the NYPD.
The shooting happened around 7:30 p.m. on First Avenue and East 96th Street, while the victim, a 20-year-old man, was sitting in a black Lincoln SUV.
He told police that an unknown gunman took out a handgun and shot him once in the upper right leg. The suspect then stole the victim's wallet, according to police.

The victim was taken to Weill Cornell Hospital in stable condition.
About 15 minutes later, police found a pistol lying on First Avenue between East 84th and 85th streets.

Police are looking into whether the victim may have shot himself, an NYPD spokesperson said. No arrests have been made, and police had no description of a possible suspect.
