Man's Family Sues City Over Deadly UES Fall, Report Says

The family's lawyer argues that the city had the responsibility to ensure safe walking conditions on an UES sidewalk.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — A grieving family is blaming the city for the death of a father of three who fatally fell on an Upper East Side sidewalk, according to reports.

The family of Kanaya Manglani, sued the city in Manhattan Supreme Court recently for wrongful death, the New York Post first reported. Manglani, who was 67 when he died, tripped on a damaged cobblestone tree bed on Second Avenue and East 78th Street and hit his head on a bus, according to the report.

The father of three died in the hosptial eight months after the fall, the Post reported. Manglani's family is being represented by lawyer Salvatore Aspromonte, who argues that the city had a duty to ensure safe conditions on the sidewalk.
