Massive Fire Burns Through Upper East Side Restaurant
The blaze on East 85th St. was tackled by 130 firefighters.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY – A massive fire burned through an Upper East Side restaurant Friday night, causing major disruption to the neighborhood, the FDNY said.
The blaze started around 9:30 p.m. at 200 East 85th St at Third Ave., the FDNY said. It quickly spread to the floors above as more than 130 firefighters battled to bring it under control.
Picture from the scene showed firefighters working outside the Highlands Cafe, though other reports said the blaze started at Jacques Bistro. The two businesses neighbor each other.

The city's Office of Emergency Management warned neighborhood residents to close windows as heavy smoke wafted through the area. The fire was under control before midnight.
