New Italian Sandwich Spot La Panineria Now Open In Yorkville
La Panineria opened last week on East 81st Street, bringing yet another specialty sandwich spot to the neighborhood.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — The Silk Stocking District might need to be renamed the Delicious Sandwich District.
The latest entrant to the specialty lunch market, La Panineria, officially opened at 322 East 81st St. on Feb. 8, and they're offering a special deal for Upper East Siders eager to try out the new spot.
For the entire opening month, La Panineria is giving customers 20 percent off all of their sandwiches.

Popular offerings include their burrata sandwich, a pile of organic burrata, prosciutto di parma, organic tomatoes and arugula, and extra virgin olive oil, the Diamate sandwich, which boasts spicy alame, provolone and olive oil, and the capri sandwich, with mozzarella, tomatoes, basil and olive oil.
The spot also has a vegan sandwich, with organic sauteed mushrooms, arugula and dried tomatoes, and so-called limited edition sandwich offerings, including one with roasted pork, mushrooms and smoked mozzarella, another of chicken cutlets with broccoli rabe and mozzarella, and one with mortadella and burrata.

Creative eaters can also build their own custom sandwich, choosing from an array of cheeses, meats, sauces, creams, jams and vegetables.
Sandwiches can come either cold or hot and can be served on ciabatta or a baguette.
La Panineria has been a longtime favorite in Greenwich Village since 2014, and boasts a long culinary and Italian pettigree.
Owner Mario Pesce is a native of Naples, Italy, and food is his family's business, with a great-uncle who runs a Chelsea Market Italian food shop, Buon Italia, according to Grub Street.
Another relative is the late Tony May, the man credited with delivering Italian fine dining to New York City and operated the heralded San Domenico on Central Park South.
La Panineria is the third new sandwich spot announced in Yorkville this year, with Brooklyn's La Sandwicherie and downtown's Regina's Grocery opening on East 85th and 88th streets respectively, both near longtime standby Milano Market.'
At the other end of the neighborhood, world famous Florentine sandwich shop All’Antico Vinaio opened a new outpost on East 60th Street.
