New UES Restaurants: Famous Sandwiches, Dumplings, And... Everything
Also: a beloved 30-year-old Italian staple is forced to move.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — The Upper East Side is gaining three new spots: a previously reported world-famous Italian sandwich spot, a dumpling shop and an all-in-one cornucopia.
The restaurants were presented to Community Board 8's Street Life Committee on Tuesday as owners sought approval for beer, wine and liquor licenses.
Here's what we learned about each new restaurant:

Representatives at Tuesday's meeting told the board that while the spot operates primarily as takeout, there will be four to eight tables inside, each with a few chairs, as well as seasonal sidewalk seating. Wine and beer will be available and the shop will operate as a cafe and espresso bar in the mornings from 7:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m.
Brooklyn Dumpling Shop (453 East 78th St., between York and First avenues)
Local franchisees Imir and Antonina Cami are planning to open a new location of restaurateur Stratis Morfogen's Brooklyn Dumpling Shop.
The Cami's also operate three other Brooklyn Dumpling Shops — an innovative, dumpling automat, or dispensary, that offers 32 variations and is open 24/7 — in Staten Island, Queens and Garden City.
The dumplings offered are a mix of traditional flavors and new twists, like the Cro’sumplings, a flaky croissant-like breakfast dumpling filled with bacon, egg and cheese (or other combinations).
The new shop inside the former location of Hero Certified Burgers is set to open on Monday and is just steps from the pizza shop Imir took over — Salvo's — earlier this year. It will be the first Brooklyn Dumpling Shop location to have a full liquor license.

Wonder (120 East 86th St., between Lexington and Park avenues)
Wonder, who in April presented a Chelsea location before Community Board 4's Street Life Committee, is looking to expand into the Upper East Side. With a delivery and takeout-friendly focus, Wonder plans to offer a cornucopia of food cuisines with multiple "restaurants" under their one roof. You can check out the concept in action at their Upper West Side location.
In other restaurant news, local Italian staple, Tiramisu, is moving from its Third Avenue location near 80th Street after over 30 years.
A lawyer for the longtime spot said at Tuesday's meeting that the building was sold and is set to be demolishing this coming October.
The owners hope to replicate the “the exact same method of operation” just up and to the east, at 1643 Second Avenue between East 85th and 86th streets, in the former home of restaurant China Jade.
There were no details available yet on a possible opening date.
