NYC Fifth Avenue Mile: Race Time, Street Closures
Here's everything you need to know about the annual road race.

NEW YORK, NY — Road runners will descend on the Upper East Side on Sunday for the annual Fifth Avenue Mile race.
The mile-long race is organized by the New York Road Runners and the field includes some of the world's fastest short distance runners. The grand prize of $5,000 draws professional runners that compete in world-class track events.

Race times:
The field at the Fifth Avenue Mile is split into several groups. Races begin at 7:25 a.m. with the field of racers using wheelchairs and handcycles and a new crop of racers starts the course every 15 minutes.

Here's a full list of race times:
- Wheelchairs and handcycles: 7:25 a.m.
- Men and women 50–59: 7:30 a.m.
- Women 40–49: 7:45 a.m.
- Men 40–49: 8:00 a.m.
- Women 35–39: 8:10 a.m.
- Men 35–39: 8:25 a.m.
- Women 30–34: 8:35 a.m.
- Men 30–34: 8:50 a.m.
- Women 25–29: 9:05 a.m.
- Men 25–29: 9:20 a.m.
- Women 19–24: 9:30 a.m.
- Men 19–24: 9:40 a.m.
Street closures:
The NYPD will shut down several blocks along the racecourse.
Formation:
- Fifth Avenue between 84th Street and 79th Street
- 79th Street between Fifth Avenue and Madison Avenue
Route:
- Fifth Avenue between 79th Street and 60th Street
Dispersal:
- Fifth Avenue between 60th Street and 59th Street
- Grand Army Plaza between 60th Street and 59th Street
- 60th Street between Fifth Avenue and Madison Avenue
- 62nd Street between Fifth Avenue and Madison Avenue
- 63rd Street between Fifth Avenue and Madison Avenue
Additional streets may be closed at the NYPD's discretion.
