Over 60 Madison Avenue Galleries Open For Fall Art Walk

Galleries on (or around) Madison Avenue between East 57th and 86th streets will welcome the public for art viewings and talks on Saturday.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — Art fans better take a hike this weekend. Specifically, on Madison Avenue.

That's because over 60 acclaimed Madison Avenue galleries are opening their doors to the public, welcoming them for viewings, curator talks and tours of exhibitions as part of the annual Madison Avenue Fall Gallery Walk.

A total of 67 galleries on on near Madison Avenue between East 57th and 86th streets are participating, with some sharing debut exhibitions for the mile-and-a-half walk, giving art fans a chance to see new shows first.

The free walk also includes over 20 free talks and curator tours that interested aesthetes can book online.

Also returning this year is the popular community art event at the Frick Madison, where the esteemed museum — soon to move back to their eponymous mansion — is inviting the community to sketch outdoors from 1-3 p.m.

The Frick will supply drawing activities, materials and refreshments from the gallery's cafe, The Sister Yard. While the Frick's event is free, it is first-come-first-served.

Some highlights include Gagosian, where they'll be showing the final day of their Edmund de Waal and Sally Mann exhibition, titled "To light, and then return," the Gerald Peters Gallery, with "Harvey Dinnerstein: A Retrospective," and Luxembourg + Co, showing an examination of Man Ray's sculpture works.

The Madison Avenue Fall Gallery Walk is organized by the Madison Avenue B.I.D in association with ARTnews.
