Person Falls Into 25-Foot Hole On The Upper East Side: FDNY

The Department of Buildings is investigating a report that a construction worker fell down a hole Wednesday afternoon at 250 E. 83rd St.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — A person fell into a 25-foot hole at 250 E. 83rd St. on the Upper East Side Wednesday afternoon, an FDNY spokesperson confirmed to Patch.

Starting at around 3 p.m., firemen worked for roughly 20 minutes to get the person out of the hole, and they have since been transported to New York Presbyterian Hospital, the FDNY said.

FDNY did not specify the person's condition.

The Department of Building's website shows that the agency is investigating a report made Tuesday of a construction worker at the address falling into a hole.

The address, which is in between Second and Third avenues, has been a construction site since at least August 2021, Google Map images show.
