UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — A person was killed Thursday afternoon after being hit on the tracks of the Lexington Avenue and East 96th Street subway station on the Upper East Side.
The person was struck by a 6 train around 2:50 on the station's northbound local track, MTA officials said. Service in both directions was re-routed to the express track while EMS operated at the scene, causing delays on both the 4 and 5 lines, the transit agency said.
Shortly after the person was struck at 96th Street, another person was hit by a Q train at the 57th Street and Lexington Avenue station, causing delays and service disruptions on that line, MTA officials said.
