Police Hunt For Culprits Behind Central Park Monument Vandalism

Three people vandalized the General William Tecumseh Sherman monument in Central Park earlier this week, police said.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — A trio of vandals spray-painted a Central Park monument on Monday night, police said.

At about 8 p.m., three unidentified men spray-painted the General William Tecumseh Sherman monument within Central Park, situated on the north side of Grand Army Plaza near East 60th Street, police said.

After defacing the Sherman monument, the suspects fled from the scene in an unknown direction, police said.

Police are offering a combined $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrests of the suspects involved in the vandalism, and they have also released surveillance photos of the three men believed to be connected to the incident.
