Popular Queens Restaurant Moving To UES This Summer

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — A popular Italian restaurant is saying goodbye to queens and moving into the Upper East Side.

Trattoria L'Incontro will be closing its doors this Sunday after more than two decades of serving the Astoria community, according to a social media post from Rocco Sacramone, the restaurant's owner.

"We have built a loyal clientele, many of which many we consider family," Sacramone said. "Me and my team want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for many years of loyalty. We have served locals of Astoria to many dignitaries throughout the years and appreciate all the love and support you have given us, especially through COVID-19."

In the midst of the bittersweet farewell, Sacramone hinted at an exciting development: a new culinary venture dubbed L’incontro by Rocco, poised to grace the streets of the Upper East Side later this summer.

L’incontro by Rocco is poised to make its grand debut at 1572 Second Avenue, nestled between 81st and 82nd Streets, promising a culinary experience similar to the original favorite.

Sacramone, hailing from Orsonga, Italy, made his way to the United States in 1970. His culinary path started at fourteen, when he began working as a dishwasher at an Italian restaurant after school.

In 1999, Sacramone opened Trattoria L’incontro with the assistance of his mother, Tina, who played a pivotal role in managing the kitchen staff and preparation work, as per the restaurant's website.

Trattoria L'Incontro offers a diverse menu that combines classic Italian dishes with modern twists. From timeless favorites like bucatini cacio e pepe and eggplant parmigiana to innovative creations like black pappardelle with shiitake mushrooms and lobster, there's something to satisfy every palate.

Sacramone's latest venture, L’incontro by Rocco, is set to welcome Upper East Siders on June 4. Notably, Sacramone mentioned that any purchased gift card for Trattoria L’incontro can also be redeemed at L’incontro by Rocco.

"We welcome you to join us when we open our doors on Tuesday, June 4," Sacramone said.
