This season kicks off on June 10 with a free Central Park show — a Soul music showcase featuring Alabama group St. Paul and The Broken Bones, Brooklyn's Say She Shem and Harlem jazz, blues and afro-futurism band Mwenso and the Shakes.
“It's an honor to bring to parks artists that are reflective of each neighborhood’s rich cultural fabric, whether these performers are familiar or completely new discoveries," said Heather Lubov, City Parks Foundation’s Executive Director. "At a time when we are increasingly isolated, SummerStage uses our city’s parks -- vital resources in every neighborhood -- to connect audiences with each other in a very emotional and magical way and, ultimately, to create community.”

Over 50 of the SummerStage concerts this summer are free shows, according to their website.
CityParks have been announcing their ticketed summer benefit concerts over the past few weeks, featuring big acts like Regina Spektor, Michal Franti & Spearhead, Jimmy Eat World, Café Tacvba, Noel Gallagher, Garbage, Cautious Clay, the Indigo Girls and blues legend Buddy Guy on his Damn Right Farewell Tour.
On June 19, SummerStage will host a Juneteenth Celebration of Hip Hop, featuring DJ Premier, Grandmaster Flash, DJ Kid Capri and DJ SpinKing.
For the 30 or so non-free concerts, tickets can be as high as $120 each.
