UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — A teenager riding a gas-powered scooter was killed in a collision with an unlicensed driver on a street on the Upper East Side, police said Monday evening.
The 19-year-old victim was riding his scooter south on Second Avenue just before midnight on July 14 when he collided with a Volvo SUV traveling eastbound on East 79th Street, police said.
The Volvo was being operated by Shraga Orgad, 26, who was driving without a license, police added.

The crash caused the teenager to be ejected from the scooter, ultimately slamming into the ground. Following the collision with the victim, Orgad lost control of his car and struck a light pole, according to the police.
Medics rushed both riders to New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center. The teenager succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead, while Orgad was treated for minor injuries and listed in stable condition, according to police.
