Thief Smashes Window, Burglarizes Upper East Side Cafe: NYPD
The sibling-owned French spot, Madame Bonté, on the Upper East Side, was targeted by a window-smashing vandal, police said.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — A popular Upper East Side cafe was the latest target of vandals, who smashed the eatery's windows during an early morning burglary this week, according to police.
Madame Bonté, the family-owned cozy French restaurant with three Upper East Side locations, was burglarized around 5 a.m. on Monday, according to police.
The perpetrator targeted their East 94th Street location, smashing a window to gain entry and making off with approximately $100 from the cafe.

An NYPD spokesperson stated that they could not confirm whether there was one suspect or multiple, but mentioned that the investigation is ongoing and, as of now, no arrests have been made.
Madame Bonté first opened on East 94th Street and Second Avenue in 2020, followed by a second location the next year on East 84th Street, also near Second Avenue, and a third on East 66th Street and Third Avenue last summer, Patch previously reported.

The cafe describes itself as a "meticulously decorated, cozy atmosphere" and was previously featured on two episodes of the Hulu show "Fleishman Is In Trouble."
As of Thursday afternoon, the NYPD could not offer any more information on the burglary.
