Two Boots Pizza Making Upper East Side Comeback

Four years after closing its Upper East Side shop, the quirky pizza chain is opening a new one — featuring an "eight foot pizza sculpture."

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — Two Boots Pizza, the quirky slice chain that operated for years on the Upper East Side before closing up shop in 2018, is about to make a comeback in the neighborhood.

Two Boots plans to open a new location on the corner of Second Avenue and East 65th Street, a company spokesperson confirmed to Patch. It comes more than three years after Two Boots shuttered its previous shop about a mile north, on Second Avenue and East 84th Street.

The new location will open "as soon as possible," Two Boots' senior manager Robert Pettit told Patch by email, featuring a sidewalk window for walk-up orders, outdoor seating, a counter decorated with "photos and artifacts" from the community — and an "eight foot pizza sculpture hanging from the ceiling."

Upper East Site first reported last week that signage had appeared in the vacant storefront at 1243 Second Ave., which was previously home to Fellan Florists. Winick Realty Group also said last summer that Two Boots had signed a lease for the space.

Founded in 1987 in the East Village, Two Boots is named for the shoe-shaped geography of Italy and Louisiana, which collectively inspire the chain's Cajun-style pizzas and playful decor. Pettit said the Upper East Side shop will serve many of the specialty pies that draw customers to Two Boots's four other New York City locations.

"All the Two Boots favorites will be available, including The Bayou Beast, Grandma Bess & V for Vegan, as well as a 'Home Pie' using local ingredients and celebrating a local luminary," she said.
