Son Shoots Father, Himself On Upper East Side, Police Say

The shooting occurred Wednesday afternoon on East 93rd Street between Second and Third avenues.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — A man shot his father and then turned the gun on himself Wednesday afternoon on the Upper East Side, NYPD Chief of Detectives Robert Boyce said during a press conference.

Officers responded to a building on East 93rd Street between Second and Third avenues shortly before 2 p.m. to find a 37-year-old man and 61-year-old man suffering gunshot wounds to the head, police said. Both men were pronounced dead at the scene by EMS, police said.

Police interviewed the mother of the shooter, who walked in on the scene, Boyce said.

The shooting is still under investigation, police said. Police vehicles remained on scene into Wednesday evening, but there was no danger to the public, police said.
