UES Smoke Shop Robbed At Gunpoint, Police Say

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — The NYPD is trying to identify a man who threatened an employee of an Upper East Side smoke shop with a gun during a robbery, police said.

The stick-up man walked into Tobacco N Vape on Second Avenue and East 62nd Street on the night of Aug. 18 and engaged the cashier in a conversation, police said. While they were talking, the man pulled out a silver handgun, threatened the clerk and demanded money from the store's register, police said.

After several threats, the worker began to take bills out of the register and hand them to the robber, police said. The suspect fled the store with an undetermined amount of cash, police said.

The store worker was never injured, said police.
