UES Woman’s Death After Harlem Incident Ruled Homicide: Police

An Upper East Side resident's death after an incident in Harlem has been reclassified as a homicide, police said.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY – On Saturday, Aug. 3., Martha E. Rodriguez, a 72-year-old resident of East 66th Street and 1st Avenue, was rushed to Harlem Hospital Center in critical condition with head trauma, police said.

Rodriguez was accidentally pushed during a dispute between two males near 470 Lenox Avenue at 133rd Street, according to police.

Rodriguez died as a result of her injuries on Aug. 6, police said.

Harlem Hospital Center is only a few blocks away from 470 Lenox Avenue.

Almost a month later, on Sept. 5, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner reclassified the incident as a homicide.

No arrests have been made, and an investigation is ongoing.
