Upper East Side Apartment Fire Injures 5 Firefighters: Reports
BREAKING: More than 100 firefighters were reportedly sent to the blaze New Year's Day.
UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — Five firefighters were among six people hurt in a blaze that swept through an Upper East Side high-rise apartment New Year's Day, according to reports. The blaze broke out around 12:30 a.m. Wednesday in 14th-story duplex apartment on East 79th Street, near Park Avenue, WPIX-TV reported.
More than 100 firefighters were reportedly sent to the blaze. Five firefighters and a civilian were hospitalized with injuries, according to reports. All were expected to survive.
Firefighters placed the inferno under control around 3 a.m.
