Music Will Swell On The Upper East Side For The Next Week

UPPER EAST SIDE — With the return of outdoor concerts to city parks, New Yorkers might finally feel comfortable leaving that winter coat at home.

The Upper East Side will have ample opportunities to hear outdoor live music in upcoming days, with performances in Central Park and the East River Esplanade this weekend, next weekend — and in between.

On Saturday, the Friends of the East River Esplanade are kicking off their East River event series season at Andrew Haswell Green Park with local favorite band, French Cookin', from 1-4 p.m.

The Esplanade group promises "foot-stomping music," A la mode ice cream giveaways and craft DIY kids activities, too.

At the Central Park Bandshell on Tuesday, Yorkville's Brothers Guitar Shop are hosting their first ever Sounds of the City Festival.

The free festival will run from 1-5 p.m. and will showcase "the incredible local talent that New York City has to offer," according to the shop's website.

Artists include Brooklyn prog-funk band The Phryg, Rockaway Beach psychedelic rock band Blac Rabbit (also known for their stellar Beatles covers), harmonica player and blues guitarist Noe Socha and more.

Next weekend, the Friends of the East River Esplanade will return to their namesake, hosting another band at Andrew Haswell Green Park.

On Saturday, May 13, Gene Casey and The Lone Sharks Band will be rocking out from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. alongside the East River in the shadow of the best bridge in the city, the Queensborough Bridge.
