Upper East Side Fire Critically Injures 1, FDNY Says

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — One person was critically injured in a fire that broke out early Thursday morning on the Upper East Side, an FDNY spokesman said.

Firefighters responded to a seven-story apartment building at 307 E. 89th Street, located between First and Second avenues, around 12:25 a.m. Thursday for reports of a fire on the second floor, an FDNY spokesman said. The fire was placed under control around 12:52, an FDNY spokesman said.

One person suffered critical injuries and was taken to NYU Hospital, an FDNY spokesman said. The spokesman could not confirm information about the person's identity or current condition.

City fire marshals will investigate the cause of the fire, an FDNY spokesman said.
