Upper East Side Housing Works To Close
The East 77th Street thrift store will close on Tuesday, Feb. 20.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — The Upper East Side is losing another thrift store. Housing Works on East 77th Street near Third avenue will close on Tuesday, Feb. 20, store employees said.
The Housing Works store — which sells second-hand items such as clothing, furniture, books and artwork — is offering 50 percent off all its merchandise before closing. People working at the store will be transferred to different Housing Works businesses throughout the city, an employee said.
The East 77th Street store is closing due to a planned demolition of its building, a Housing Works spokeswoman said.

The two stores closest to the East 77th Street store are both located on Second Avenue, one at East 90th Street and the other at East 64th Street. All of the proceeds from Housing Works sales fund the organization's mission to end the crises of AIDS and homelessness.
