Vets At The Met: Officials Organize Museum Day For Veterans Only
On Nov. 1, military veterans will have the entire Metropolitan Museum of Art to themselves, thanks to local elected officials.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — Vets will take over the Met, thanks to a special Veterans Day event organized by several local elected officials.
The day, called Vets at the Met, will be held on Nov. 1 and it will offer the entire museum for interested veterans to explore at their leisure — minus the sometimes overwhelming crowds.
From noon until 4 p.m., vets will have the museum — normally closed on Wednesdays — opened just to them as part of honoring Veterans Day, which falls on Nov. 11 this year.

Organized by City Council Member Keith Powers, along with Manhattan Borough President Mark Levine and Rep. Jerry Nadler, the vets are also invited to bring guests to join them in exploring the otherwise closed-off Met.
Gallery tours, crafts, lunch, and refreshments will also be included for free, according to Powers' office.
