Victims, Driver In Deadly UES Crash Are Identified

The two women killed in a fiery crash on the FDR Drive on Friday have been identified by police. The driver now faces charges.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — Police have identified the two women killed in a fiery crash on the FDR Drive last week — as well as the driver, who survived and now faces charges.

Kesha Montez, 35, of Yonkers, and Mahogany Robinson, 29, a Columbus, Ohio resident, both died Friday when their Infiniti sedan crashed into an embankment on the FDR Drive near East 74th Street, at around 4:30 a.m.

Officers found the car engulfed in flames on the shoulder of the roadway, police said. Firefighters extinguished the blaze and found the women inside the car. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver, 33-year-old Daquan Allen of the Bronx, was rushed to Weill Cornell Hospital, where he was initially listed in serious but stable condition. Allen has now been charged with reckless driving, police said.

All northbound lanes of the FDR Drive were closed for hours Friday morning as authorities responded to the crash.
