A Weed Store Is Giving Away A Birkin On The Upper East Side
An absurd local sweepstakes is giving a new meaning to high fashion.
UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — Come for the weed, stay for the coveted, outrageously expensive and exclusive purse.
A Yorkville-based cannabis dispensary is giving away a real Hermes Birkin — you know, the leather handbag status symbol that can cost anywhere from $10,400 to $2,000,000, and has a waiting list — on Dec. 24.
Sweetlife, which is located at 1662 1st Ave., near the corner of East 87th Street, bills itself as a "design-forward" dispensary that focuses on wellness and delivers a "white-glove" experience catering to a savvy uptown audience.

This is not the first time the dispensary has made headlines. The dispensary opened legally by the same owners who previously ran an unlicensed, cannabis-infused bakery at the same location which was shut down in 2023, according to the New York Times.
"This giveaway meets our customers where they are at," Billy Qirollari, manager of Sweetlife, said. "We hope it also helps to teach non-cannabis consumers about the diversity of who enjoys the plant and maybe introduces cannabis to some new fashion-forward audiences."

According to the Yorkville brand, it is completely free to enter the giveaway, which is underway now through Dec. 24, when the company will do a live drawing.
However, for Birkin-hopefuls who want to increase their winning chances, a $100 purchase at the store on Eureka products earns customers a bonus entry, the store owners said, since the sweepstakes is a collaboration with the brand.
"New York defines luxury, and we want to show how cannabis belongs in that conversation," Qirollari said.
The sweepstakes is only for adults ages 21 and over, the brand said. Learn more here.
