WEST VILLAGE, NY — A West Village settlement house was awarded a $30,000 grant on Wednesday to help expand their work in helping older adults build digital skills.

Greenwich House was awarded the digital education grant by Spectrum on Wednesday for its digital literacy and workforce development programs for neighbors aged 60 and up.

The funding will help Greenwich House expand their access to digital literacy programming at their Lifelong Skills and Opportunity Center by increasing the number of courses offered and providing door-to-door transportation for mobility-challenged participants who attend the monthly digital education seminars, according to an announcement.

“In a city as vast and dynamic as New York, it is vital that we continue to equip our older adults and immigrant populations with the digital skills they need to thrive," said Darren Bloch, CEO and executive director of Greenwich House. "This partnership with Spectrum is a testament to what can be achieved when dedicated organizations come together with a shared vision for a more inclusive digital future.”

Greenwich House's Lifelong Skills and Opportunity Center is a first-of-its-kind job training and workforce development center, working mostly with older adults, migrants and other people who face barriers when re-entering the workforce. The Center offers one-on-one career coaching and wrap-around social services.
